Transmission

Most human infections are linked to contact with infected rodents or their urine, droppings, or saliva, including inhalation of contaminated dust during unsafe cleanup.

Limited person-to-person transmission has been documented for Andes virus, generally among close and prolonged contacts. This should not be generalized to all hantaviruses.
